Congressional Candidate Forum in Jackson sponsored by Foothills Rising - Thurs Oct 19

Foothills Rising invites the public to attend our upcoming forum on Thursday, October 19 from 6-8pm at the Jackson Civic Center, 33 Broadway, Jackson.

We extend our gratitude to candidates and moderators for their commitment and contribution to developing the political consciousness and the capacity of our grassroots members and our larger community.

Featuring Candidates:*
Regina Bateson
Roza Calderon
Jessica Morse
Rochelle Wilcox

*All candidates registered with the FEC by 9/20/17 were invited to participate in the event.

The opportunity to listen to the candidates’ ideas and proposals for our district, as our hopeful representatives in the US Congress, brings us closer to realizing our vision of a rural movement in the Sierra Foothills that expands economic, social, and environmental justice through civic engagement. Rather than traditional introductions and closings, we will begin and end with a round of “elevator speeches” from the candidates targeting different, but critical constituencies that we believe they will need to effectively reach in order to win. The sections on Campaigning and Governance will be comprised of questions submitted by the candidates themselves, as selected by our moderators. The questions will reveal what the candidates themselves believe voters must consider in order to select the best candidate.

Foothills Rising is seizing the opportunity to highlight and support our local political leaders through an innovative congressional candidate forum in three parts; Campaigning, Governance, and Audience Questions.

  • Moderated by Dr. Amy Champ; Regional Director, CA Democratic Party Region 4; Rural Caucus Vice Chair; a rising star in the effort to rebuild and reinvigorate the California Democratic Party.
  • Moderated by Supervisor Lynn Morgan; Amador County Board of Supervisors, District 3; the only woman Amador County Supervisor in 25 years, who will face a challenge to her seat in 2018
Audience Questions
  • Moderated by Chair Lynn Standard-Nightengale; Chair of the Amador Democratic Central Committee; a stalwart progressive leader in Amador County
