The Jefferson Messenger - Ed 6 . Mar 24 Vol 2

The Jefferson Messenger

Edition 6 . March 24, 2018 . Volume 2
California in state of Rebellion

On March 11, 2018, Mark Baird disclosed the letter he wrote to President Trump, Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell and Attorney General Sessions stating that he, representing the 23 counties of Northern California, hereafter known as the State of Jefferson, is formally demanding an immediate Article 4, Section 3 (U.S.) state split, declaring the State of California is in open rebellion and insurrection against the government of the United States.

Adding further, “Governor Jerry Brown, Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom, Senate Pro-Tem  Kevin Leon, Speaker Anthony Rendon, State Attorney General Xavier Becerra, U.S. Senator Kamala Harris, and the majority of the members of the California Legislature, have openly declared war on the government of the United States.”
Send in those Cards & Letters

Mark Baird announced this on both the “Jefferson State of Mine” KCNR Radio show (in Redding) and the new “State of Jefferson Hour” KAHI Radio show (in Auburn), urging all to write letters to the President, Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell, plus their District Congressman. You can read Mark's letter on the website home page, just below the banner. All we are asking from you is to put your thoughts and points in your own words, and if possible, limit your letter to one page. Addresses for all elected and the President are available on the internet. Think about it; handwriting a letter, putting a stamp on it and placing it in the US Mail to be delivered for someone to physically open it, read it, and pass it along is not so common anymore, it is more like a novelty.

We encourage all of you to spread the word throughout your community, neighborhood, friends and family members, throughout the state. Remember about 74% of Californian's oppose Sanctuary State jurisdiction. It is time we tell the leaders in Washington, DC, that we stand with our President and our nation of laws.

Where Do We Go From Here?
A great question and it is one I am continually asking myself.  Perhaps start by explaining why we are supposed to be a nation of laws and not a nation of men. People do not know the difference between pure democracy and Constitutional Republic.  Not many, if any, politicians have ever read the Constitutions they have sworn to support and defend.  We have come to a place in history where, (just like in 1214 AD), people think their rights derive from government not God.  What the government giveth, the government taketh away!  As the Bible tells us, what was will be, what has been done, will be done.  “There is nothing new under the sun.”

If it is true that our “Republic” consists of three co-equal branches, why have the executive and judicial been allowed to grow like weeds, while the people’s branch remains stagnant?  Why are the executive and judicial gaining more and more power while the people’s branch has not grown in over one hundred and fifty years in CA, and has not grown in almost one hundred years nationally?  How are “the people” through their branch of government supposed to check the unlimited power of the other two branches, when the oligarchy has capped the people’s house? Have the servants and stewards of the people’s liberty become their masters?

People created government for one reason. To secure the rights of the governed. Government derives “all” of its power from the consent of the governed. Whenever government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or abolish it. The time has come for 51 states.
Yours in Liberty,
Mark Baird

We Are Not Alone in Our
Battle against Sanctuary Jurisdiction
The first to take a stand against Sanctuary Jurisdiction for their counties and cities, were the Boards of Supervisors of Tehama, Siskiyou and Shasta, along with the City Councils of Anderson, Lincoln and Colusa, all declaring that they will comply with federal immigration laws. Last year, the State of Jefferson publicly took a position in support of the California State Sheriff's Association's opposition to SB 54, passed by the State Legislature and signed into law by Governor Jerry Brown.  Once again more laws and legislation passed without a vote of the people.

On March 19, 2018, the City Council of Los Alamitos in a 4-1 vote, passed an ordinance - “Constitution of the United States Compliance”, which reads, “The city of Los Alamitos, a Charter City, does hereby exempt the City of Los Alamitos from the California Values Act. Government Code Title 1, Division 7, Chapter 17.25 and instead will comply with the appropriate Federal Laws and the Constitution of the United States.”

The next day, during the open forum portion of both the El Dorado and Placer Counties Board of Supervisors, two SOJ committee members from the two counties, requested that their county supervisors place an item on a future agenda, for discussion and adoption of a Resolution, declaring their counties will comply with federal immigration law and does not constitute a Sanctuary jurisdiction.

This effort has gained steam in many counties and cities, since Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced he had filed a lawsuit against the State of California. Just one day following his announcement, Governor Jerry Brown stated, “that Trump's lawsuit will not stand and this action is basically going to war against the state of California, the engine of the American economy.”

The U.S. Department of Justice lawsuit asks a federal court to strike down three state laws that, among other restrictions, require employers to keep information about their employee’s private without a court order, mandate inspections of immigration detention facilities, and bar local law enforcers from questioning people about their immigration status during routine interactions.

We of Jefferson are well aware of the history of Brown and Becerra, violating both the U.S. and California State Constitutions. Some may feel that Becerra is doing so once again, violating the first amendment, when preventing business owners from speaking freely to ICE agents about the possibility of illegal aliens being employed in their business operations.

It is no surprise that Senator Kevin Leon, wrote one of the laws, cited in the Justice Departments lawsuit. Leon is the state senator who openly stated, “half of my family would be eligible for deportation because they have illegal driver’s license and social security cards.”

Worst in Quality...
Highest in Poverty

Please note that in Governor Brown's response to President Trump regarding the lawsuit, Brown claimed that California was the engine of the American economy. Yet in January an article in the Los Angeles Times, asked, “Why is Liberal California the Poverty Capital of America?” This question was based on a report from the Census Bureau's Supplemental Poverty Measure.

The report notes, that California state and local governments spent nearly $958 billion from 1992 through 2015, for public welfare programs including cash-assistance payments, vendor payments and “other public welfare,” with 12% of the American population, in home today, this equates to about one in three of the nation's welfare recipients, according to the California Census Bureau.

Concluding that, the generous spending then has not only failed to decrease poverty, it actually seems to have made it worse as California Democrats have long been free to indulge blue-state ideology.

And just recently, California was ranked dead last in quality of life, when it comes to a healthy environment and a sense of community. But wait, Brown is the global guru for Climate Control and saving the environment. Evidently his advocacy for a cleaner environment has not spread to the progressive run neighborhoods of San Francisco and Los Angeles, whose streets and sidewalks are laden with fecal matter, syringes and garbage.

It is difficult to rationalize all this, when California has the highest income and gas taxes, highest poverty and homeless rates, and ranks almost last when it comes to education. California, the place where the rich get richer and the poor get poorer, while the middle income earners continue to flee the state - that many feel cannot be fixed. Yes, it is Time for 51!
Worst Imbalance...
of Representation
CFR Lawsuit Update

Yes, California has the worst imbalance of representation of all 50 states. But there is good news: On Monday, March 19, 2018, the attorneys representing Citizens for Fair Representation (CFR), filed the amended complaint in CFR's lawsuit against Secretary of State Alex Padilla, for lack of representation based on invidious descrimination.

The amended complaint will now be reviewed by the court and the state's attorneys.  At this time, it is uncertain as to when we will hear any action or decisions by the court. One may view all court documents, by clicking “CFR” on the website.
